Results of evaluation of the medical students satisfaction from Clinical Skill Lab (CSL) of Tabriz

Abstract:

Introduction. Students’ satisfaction reflects the effectiveness of all aspects of education. Achieving clinical skill is a key process about medical education. For this reason it is necessary to build up a place similar to the hospital called Clinical Skill Lab (CSL). The aim of this study was to evaluate the medical students’ satisfaction from clinical Skill Lab of Tabriz for finding educational problems of the students. Methods. The present study was performed in CSL of Tabriz, on about 83 medical students who had to learn some of the practical procedures in first half term of 2002 – 2003 . Information was gathered using a questionnaire. Likert measure was used and results analyzed using descriptive statistical method together with estimating mean and standard deviation. Results. Level of satisfaction (very much and much) about different aspects of satisfaction were 80.20% about academic members discipline and their route of education. It was 73.80% and 83.70% for descriptive classes and educational technicians, respectively. Effectiveness of this kind of education in relation to inter-hospital working was 67.50%. Facilities of CLS, quality and quantity of manikins accounted 62.60% and 38.9% of satisfaction. Conclusion. Although CLS of Tabriz is currently organized but according to the results obtained, level of satisfaction about almost all of the aspects was higher than 50%. It becomes clear that educational managers should cooperate more about students’ educational problems and solve them effectively.
